Illustration from picture books to chapter books and young adults
Trish Phillips illustrates throughout the age genre from picture books, through chapter books, to young adults. Covering fiction and non-fiction, her work includes well-being workbooks. An experienced paper-engineer, many of her books are pop-ups and novelty, including her own papercraft books.
Apart from the fun side novelty books offer, they are also an engaging way to tackle subjects such as bereavement for children. There are times when using the elements of the book to show rather than have to talk directly is easier for a child.
For adults and children online and at selected venues in Whitby
The Cook Memorial Museum in Grape Lane Whitby often hold craft workshops for students and visitors, and Trish is a regular facilitator. Much of the materials are recycled and there have been fun projects such as Fish & Ships, automata and pop-up card making.
In 2023 Crafty Sea Gal studios will host workshops online so all can join in. Skill level will vary from beginner to more advanced, just go to the Workshops page and check the details when booking.
A schedule for 2023 will be appearing shortly.
